Boating in December?

On Tuesday, we joined our friends, Billy & Sue, for a boat ride in German & Ruth's Ranger Tug. It's the cutest little boat, reminiscent of the storybook "Little Toot." The boat was launched out of Weeks Bay and from there we cruised to Magnolia Springs for a look at the lovely homes, the unique boat houses and the picturesque area from the water. We were treated to a spectacular dolphin show along the way, which only added to the special day. Lunch at Jesse's was at the top of the list, so we tied up the boat and walked through the woods on a short hike to the restaurant. It was a great lunch, a gorgeous day, and a wonderful time spent with good friends. And besides, it was just incredible to be on the boat in mid-December! Can't do that this time of year in Indiana!

Beautiful sunset over Weeks Bay just as we pulled up to the boat ramp.
The cute little Ranger Tug … our mode of transportation over the waters.
The little boat in the water at the right is the U.S. Mail boat. Magnolia Springs is
the only place in the United States that still has mail delivery by boat.
Here's a typical scene along the Magnolia River -- a mailbox on the boat dock.
